Faith = Patience + Preparation … Have you done the Math?!?!

Recently, my wife and I shared the miracle of bringing our first born child into the world.  The experience of pregnancy was waaaay more work for my wife than me, but it still left a lasting impact on my life and my perspective on faith.  As soon-to-be parents, we had an overwhelming excitement for the little girl on the way.  We painted her room, bought clothes, and filled our home with all of the necessary tools for taking care of an infant.  We prepared!.. and when we felt we had done all we could to prepare, we waited… and waited… and waited… until our baby girl arrived.

Having faith in God’s plan for your business and your life requires the same two key components….  Preparation and Patience!

PREPARATION

James 2:17 – KJV – Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

While we waited patiently for the baby to arrive, we prepared and created an environment for our daughter to thrive and grow successfully.  We must actively work towards the goals we have for our businesses as well.  You can not expect God to make your business global, if you are only prepared to accept local clients.  There are so many champions of faith in the Bible that knew the first act of faith was preparation … Noah … David … Ruth… the list goes on and on… While you wait for your chance…work and prepare!

PATIENCE

Hebrews 11:1 – KJV – Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

While we may not see immediate evidence with our natural senses, we must be patient in knowing that we serve a God that always moves in the perfect timing for our lives.  If God has said “it”, He will do “it”.  The plans that God has for us may not come with an ever expanding belly and a sonogram machine to watch the progress, but we must still have confidence in knowing that God is working on our behalf.  With pregnancy, the baby is in a gestational period for 40 weeks, and it is ideal that the baby does not come sooner or later than that.  If a baby comes too soon, or too late, it can be detrimental to the fetus! When God has something new for you, it may take time to cultivate and develop, before He can give it to you.  But when He does bless you, it will be on time, and it will be greater than you would have ever imagined!

Are you in a waiting period now? What are ways you are keeping your hands to the plow to make sure you are prepared?
